WHAT LIES UNDER OUR SKIN ?
Is it us, or
our standards that we have to make and put up with?!
Some find
that beauty lies under our skin, in our souls (beautiful on the inside and
out).
But what is
the difference between an ugly soul with beautiful features and a beautiful
soul with -according to human standards- an ugly features or not commonly
acceptable ones? , how to set the two apart?
Our whole
lives we are searching for acceptance; to be liked, talked to and even loved.
Not
depending on what we wear or how we look, but depending on what lies within
us; ‘we are all beautiful in our mothers' eyes’, however how we look in
front of our mirrors and in our eyes is another story.
Who are we
and what defines us; as we grow up we let other people answer these two
questions for us, we let them define us by their own terms not by ours, but a
coin always have two sides; what about us what lies within us , is it our
mothers' eyes or is it others' judgmental eyes?
It's quite
weird; moreover we convince ourselves that how we are seen is who we are, that
our features define us, forgetting that the rare pearls lie in the most simple
shells.
Till when
are we going to let this play go on? Till when are we going to believe the lies
they feed us? ; Forever isn’t a choice anymore.
I believe
that it starts with the 1% doubt that we are beautiful unlike what we are told
, that what they have been telling us, feeding us isn't anything but a mere lie
they made up to set themselves apart from the others.
In that
moment the same question pops up in our minds again; what defines us?
Well I have
another question to ask: who said we should be defined? Who said that we need
to fall in a certain category that defines us, why can't we live and try to
accept others? But first did we accept ourselves???
‘Accept
yourself you weren't made easily’, they tell us, but they forget to mention
how; I believe that the answer lies within us we go through so much to become
who we are now , always remember a rock goes through a lot to be the beautiful
sculpture you see, it was never easy and it never will be. But, as long as we
are trying and fighting not to change who we are just to fit in, trying to
fight for our soul existence; I guarantee you, we will win. But you can never
win a battle by watching; so try, fight, lose, get yourself up and win, you
always had it in you and only you can do it, because only you know what lies
under your skin.
